This song is an upbeat celebration of God's faithfulness. It's a reminder of things I know to be true, even through times I struggle.

Some days I feel alone. I get disillusioned with my place, and question the value of my contribution to the Gospel.

But I also take time to read and think about God's Word. Like the other night, I wrote down the passage of Scripture that proceeds from Phil 4:4 - "Rejoice in the Lord always..." Taking time to think about what that means puts things back into perspective.

The instruction is not just to rejoice, or even to rejoice in favorable circumstances, but to rejoice in the Lord - who He is, what He has done, how He has done it... In short, we rejoice in the Gospel. We rejoice in remembering the Good Message from Creation to the Fall to the cross and to the resurrection of Jesus - and beyond that.

I'm also into creation science stuff, and I love seeing how science affirms the Bible. It's an amazing book, or collection of books. That too, reminds me of the character of the One I should be rejoicing in.

We are part of a story of redemption that isn't finished yet. Many have gone before us who struggled and went through immense difficulties, even losing their lives for their faith and confidence in this God who had saved and was saving them from their sin.

So it is that we face trials as well - even as we share the message with others. It is through these trials that God proves Himself, and we learn more of Him. Whether the trials are long or short, He will always prove Himself and work things out for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).

We all go through seasons of drought. If you're in one now (and actually, even if you're not!), let this song serve as a reminder to His faithfulness - and of your value in giving testimony to His goodness.
